On November 4, the Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Ning Jikai, led a delegation to conduct on-site investigation and research on the construction of a production cooperation demonstration park in China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan Ni Jian, the Department of Foreign Investment of the National Development and Reform Commission and the International Division accompanied the investigation.
At the construction site of the demonstration park, Wang Bin, general manager of Zhongjiang International Group, and Luo Hua, general manager of Jiangsu Haitou Company, respectively reported to the research team about the promotion of the demonstration park project construction and the overall planning results of the park. After hearing the report, Ning Director said: The provincial government of Jiangsu Province attaches great importance to the construction of a demonstration park. The Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Zhongjiang Group have a stronger awareness of the overall situation and work progress is rapid. Regarding the problems existing in the construction of the demonstration park, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Embassy in Afghanistan will help actively coordinate. Ning Director pointed out that Jiangsu Haitou Company must carefully analyze the resources of the market, comprehensively optimize the industrial layout, and actively carry out accurate investment promotion, and strive to see results as soon as possible. Related companies should grasp the strategic opportunities for investment in the UAE, actively plan for overseas deployment, and accelerate international production capacity cooperation and industrial transformation and upgrading.
General manager Wang Bin stated that under the strong leadership of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, Zhongjiang International Group and Jiangsu Haitou Company will maintain close contact with the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and continue to work hard to further develop the characteristics of Jiangsu's industry. The management level of the park will be improved, and the demonstration park will be built to become an important landmark project for the “Belt and Road Initiative” and an important brand for China-Arab exchange and cooperation.
It was also learned that the construction of the second phase of the Abu Dhabi Halifah Port project as a sister project of the demonstration park will be officially started this week. The port is being invested and constructed by COSCO SHIPPING, only 5 kilometers from the demonstration park. When the port is completed in 2018, it will become one of the most important shipping hubs in the Middle East and will provide the most convenient and efficient shipping logistics services for the demonstration park.
